Darknight Stunning debut album with plenty of doom ridden sludge. Auric create that New Orleans dirty sludge sound through there kick ass riffage, fabulous album to let your head bang. Favorite track: Black Rivers.
MindOverFour
MindOverFour thumbnail
MindOverFour This is a far more blackened doom approach than their second album, which is not a genre I seek out. For me, it lacks the complexity of "Empty Seas" but it undoubtedly captures the punishing heaviness of southern nihilistic sludge. Favorite track: Abrasion.
Nihilist Prayer
Nihilist Prayer thumbnail
Nihilist Prayer This album starts it right for the lads; the musicianship here is good and genuine. Actually heard the newer release before this one, so I had to rectify a terrible mistake quickly. Majestic debut and entry above, certainly beyond mere sludge and 'post' trappings. Favorite track: In Memory.

1.
Abject 03:52
Goddamned by my outlook The gulf between Who I am and who I want to be Grows every day
2.
Black Rivers 09:56
Your rivers run black Torn down by past Waiting for something to happen to you Now, rise A long road to nowhere A long road that never began Eyes strike center Forward’s endless Too soon to open the wound Pulled along like bramble in the water Life in the undercurrent
3.
Abrasion 08:20
Made out to abrade the threshold It was all on its own But there you were Burning in circles Together entwined Embrace your descent You tear your flesh Your existence is driven To its dire end Voraciously you seek the unclaimed Watch your bridges burn Taste the ash, breath the salt Remember what used to belong We learned to crash on you Like waves unto the crust
4.
Withered to nether I grow weary of this place My goddess beckons Her true flesh has shown Fey antlers branch her lobes Ritual transcends rationale, Oh, how her hand beckons Beyond the amber glow Lies the ocean I sink further, refracting light One among the refuse My dreams Come to fruition My lungs Collapse
5.
Never forget how small you are Torn in half and severed twice more Constantly crushed Every weight is feeling heavier Nothing has changed, nor will it ever Constantly crushed Coming to terms with the things I can’t change Trying to kill what’s constantly killing me Constantly crushed I am nothing Swept by the storm, swallowed by the earth
6.
In Memory 12:39
Uprooted Rotting out Under the radiated sky Our sun bleached corpses Will not be known for what they created, But for what we ignored There is no rest, there is no wake The loveless procession never waits When the words are sparse, The eyes grow weary Trudging through rock, blood, and bone My mind leaves faster than limbs. Ashes back to Earth This fading glimpse Has run its course Clearly broken We refused to change I refused
